Bankruptcy Q: Is there any mortgage company that will refinance while someone is involved in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy?
View Answer Q: Do you have any advise for someone either contemplating Bankruptcy or already there?
View Answer Q: My new husband filed for bankruptcy in 1999, it was discharged that year as well. He was newly out of college and laid off his job and couldn't find work. I have very good credit. He has no credit cards but does pay a car payment, has tried to get some small credit cards but can't. We are both employed full time and have decent paying jobs. We want to buy a home in the next year or two. He has been offered a deal to 'erase the bankruptcy' by the company who did it for him, for a fee of $435. Is this possible? Should we just forget about buying a home?
View Answer Q: Three years ago we began a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. At the time we had a home but my job required relocation. Although we tried to sell for a year plus, we ended up allowing it to go to foreclosure. When if ever can I reasonably expect to get home financing?
View Answer Q: We are refinancing our mortgage with our existing company. We are ready to close and now they are requesting our Bankruptcy discharge papers from 11 years ago! The BK hasn't shown on any credit reports for 3 years. How could this possibly have anything to do with the new loan at this time? We live San Diego County, CA and the main office for refi is in Missouri.

View Answer Q: I had to file bankruptcy almost two years ago along with a foreclosure. My husband and I have been able to save some money in hope of buying a house. My credit score is not yet were it needs to be and it seems that laws are constantly changing. It looks that due to my circumstances I would not be able to purchase a home for another year. We don't really want to wait that long. We have a family member who is willing to purchase a home with his credit and put us on title. The problem is that he fears that if for some reason we were to be sued and loan is in his name but not on the property he could be liable for damages too.
